    Spitzer, the Comeback Kid?

Today's D&C reports on a recent Marist poll that finds current New York governor David Paterson trailing damn-near-impeached former governor Eliot Spitzer by double digits in a hypothetical head-to-head race for governor.
Between Paterson and Spitzer, 51 percent of voters said they would prefer the former governor who resigned in disgrace in March 2008 after soliciting a prostitute. Thirty-eight percent would want Paterson.

"Voters are so dissatisfied with the governor's performance that a majority - 51 percent - say they would prefer his sex scandal-plagued predecessor, Eliot Spitzer, be in office than he," the Marist poll states.

Keep in mind, that Spitzer had sub-par approval ratings (pdf) before the prostitution scandal broke.  Is Spitzer pulling a Bill Clinton here, who posted higher approval ratings well after leaving office than he had while in office, sex scandal and all?
